Missouri Brain Injury Advisory Council
The Missouri Brain Injury Advisory Council, established pursuant to RSMo 192.745, shall make recommendations to the Department of Health and Senior Services Director for developing and administering a state plan to provide services for brain injured persons. The Brain Injury Advisory Council is also a core component/requirement of the Federal Traumatic Brain Injury Implementation Partnership grant and serves in an advisory capacity related to the grant activities.

The council’s mission is to lead in the development of a collaborative statewide system of prevention, public awareness, and provision of services and supports driven by the needs of individuals with brain injury and their families.

Member Details
Members are appointed by the Department Director.

- Term length: 3 years; at the pleasure of the Director
- Compensation: No member shall receive compensation for services, but they shall, subject to appropriations, be reimbursed for actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties from funds appropriated for this purpose.
- Member Requirements: Represent people with head injuries, relatives of persons with head injuries, proprietary schools as defined in section 173.600, RSMo, professional groups, health institutions, or private industry and state agencies which administer programs regarding mental health, education, public health, public safety, insurance, and Medicaid.
