Licensing
The licensing year runs from October 1 to September 30. The lodging license shall be renewed annually. Licenses are obtained by completing an application. Applications are mailed to each lodging establishment by the first of August. The application is computer generated and contains facility identifying information. If the information is incorrect, the applicant will need to record the correct information on the application. If an additional copy of the application is needed it may be obtained by contacting the Department at 573-751-6095. In order to obtain a lodging license, establishments must submit an application, an approved inspection for the current licensing year, a certificate of no tax due, and pay the appropriate licensing fee. The licensing fee is determined using a formula based on the number of guest rooms. It is also pre-printed on the application. If the number of guest rooms has changed and is wrong on the application, the operator or applicant should correct the information on the application. Then using the calculator with the Licensing Fee Table, calculate the fee and submit a check for the correct amount.
The application packet should be mailed to the address below. The fee may be paid with check, bank draft or money order, and made payable to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Cash or credit card payments cannot be accepted.
