The Organ Donation Advisory Committee has 10 members. These members represent the community and groups that work with organ, eye, and tissue donation. People who want to be on the committee must live in Missouri. The Department Director chooses the members.

The Committee consists of 10 members representing the community at large and organizations focused on organ, eye, and tissue donation. The overall mission is to reduce the gap between the need for donated organs and the available supply. Members’ role is crucial in educating the public on the importance of donation and ensuring the effective use of resources. ODAC convenes two to four times annually with a structured agenda. Focal areas include:

- Mission: The Organ Donation Advisory Committee works to reduce the gap between the need for donated organs and the available supply.
- Function: A ten-member advisory committee, appointed by the Department Director, assists the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services with the development and implementation of the Organ and Tissue Donor Program. The committee's mission is to reduce the gap between the need for donated organs and the available supply for transplants. The Organ Donation Advisory Committee recommends priorities for expenditures from the Organ Donor Program Fund to meet program mandates. Focus areas include:

- Compensation: Reimbursement for realized and necessary expenses. Determined by the committee annually
- Member Requirements: 4 members must represent organ and tissue procurement organizations; 4 must represent organ recipients, families of organ recipients, organ donors, and families of organ donors; 1 must be a health care representative from a Missouri hospital; and 1 must represent the Department of Health and Senior Services.

Overarching Program Direction
- Maintain a statewide, confidential registry of potential donors.
- Develop and implement statewide donation awareness programs for education of the general public.
- Implement donation awareness programs within secondary schools.
Funding
The Organ and Tissue Donor Program and Donate Life Missouri Registry are supported by voluntary contributions. The Organ Donor Program Fund is preserved by statute and cannot be used as general revenue. Likewise, the Organ and Tissue Donor Program cannot receive any general revenue funds (194.297 RSMo.).
