As a dedicated volunteer ombudsman, Linda Robbins has been serving the residents of Tiffany Springs Rehabilitation and Health Care since 2019.

Linda holds a Master of Music Education, a Master of Music Therapy, and is a Board-Certified Music Therapist. During her time of study and internship, she became connected with older adults through her work with Village Hospice. With this connection, Linda says, "was a confirmation that this work is much more than just the music." She realized the impact she was having, and accepted a part-time position working with hospice patients, most of whom were older adults.

In 2014, Linda became very aware of what it looks like to successfully partner together with a care home, when she became the primary advocate and voice for her mother who resided in assisted living. Linda describes an optimistic scenario of "what can be" when residents are treated well and offered appropriate care and support. She's sincerely grateful for her mother's compassionate caregivers and overall positive experience.

Linda explains that she's gotten very attached to the residents at Tiffany Springs, including those she has also been serving in the Assisted Living for the past year. "Everyone needs a voice," says Linda. "We all need one, or will need one, especially in a long-term care setting." "Family and friends can't be at the facility all the time, so I want to help be the voice."

Linda is particularly motivated to advocate for residents who may be estranged from their families or just need a supportive listener to demonstrate kindness in difficult circumstances. She's proud of the ongoing progress she's made with the Tiffany Springs Resident Council, as well as the good rapport she's developed with residents and staff alike.

Linda is an excellent representative of the LTC Ombudsman Program, and we're thrilled in Region 7 to have her on our volunteer team!
