JEFFERSON CITY, MO — The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) announced the addition of new services and resources available to help Missourians quit using any form of commercial tobacco or nicotine products. Tobacco use remains the leading cause of preventable deaths in Missouri. Missouri has one of the highest smoking rates in the nation and over half of Missourians who smoke try to quit each year.

Free and confidential telephone and web-based tobacco cessation services are available 24/7 to Missourians ages 13 and older. Additional support is available for pregnant and postpartum women, individuals with behavioral health conditions, American Indians, young adults and adolescents (ages 13-17). Pregnancy and postpartum participants, as well as adolescent participants, can earn incentives along their quit journey. Educational resources specific to these services are free to order.
