When Barb Calton retired from banking 9 years ago, she decided she needed something meaningful to fill her time. A friend told her about the Ombudsman program, and she thought it sounded like something she would love to do. Barb has been a dedicated volunteer for the Ombudsman program for the past three years in Webster County.

When asked about her experience with the program, Barb said, “I love going into the nursing homes each week, listening to the stories from the residents, seeing how their week has been, answering their questions, and helping them in many ways. I am an advocate for them in their time of need. I know that someday I may be where they are, and hope that my nursing home will have a volunteer Ombudsman program available for me.”

Outside of her Ombudsman role, Barb takes pride in being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Barb is also active in her church community.

Thank you Barb for your hard work and dedication to the Ombudsman program!
