Media Advisory - Missouri Brings Awareness to Elder Abuse

Who:

What:
A series of presentations statewide, in observance of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15, will focus on how to spot elder abuse and how to report it to authorities.

When and Where:
Dates, times, and locations are listed on page 2 of this release.

Why:
Abuse and financial exploitation are real dangers for many older Missourians. These educational sessions will inform communities about ways to identify abuse and how to report concerns. Reports of elder abuse and neglect taken and investigated by DHSS continue to rise, highlighting the importance of education and awareness.

The department also invites Missourians to show their support by wearing purple on World Elder Abuse Day, June 15.
