State Health Department Notified of Possible Recalled Drug Distribution at Rural Hospital

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) - Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Jefferson County has notified the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services that it may have received a product manufactured by New England Compounding Center that has since been recalled. Jefferson Memorial reports receiving the product from a hospital located outside Missouri. The product received was manufactured in the same compounding facility as drugs related to the outbreak but have not been linked to the nationwide meningitis outbreak.

Jefferson Memorial Hospital reported to the Department of Health and Senior Services that the product may have been given to a patient in its care. The hospital has begun contacting any patients who may have received this product.

To date, no illnesses related to the products distributed by the New England Compounding Center have been reported in Missouri. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services continues to work with the Food and Drug Administration to monitor the situation and protect Missourians.
