Firms Initiate Secondary Recall in Response to the Expansion of Reser's Fine Foods Recall
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services received information that Reser's Fine Foods, Inc., initiated a recall of select products on Oct. 22, 2013, due to the potential of those select products being contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. On Oct. 26, 2013, Reser's expanded its initial recall to cover a broader group of products. In response to that expanded recall, Taylor Farms Florida, Inc.; Taylor Farms Illinois, Inc.; Taylor Farms Maryland, Inc.; Taylor Farms Texas, Inc.; and Taylor Farms Tennessee, Inc., are voluntarily issuing a secondary recall on a limited number of deli products that contain components implicated in Reser's expanded recall. These products are being recalled because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
To date, there have been no reported illnesses associated with these recalled items.
