What is ShowMe WorldCare?

ShowMe WorldCare is a comprehensive reportable conditions system that can receive electronic reports from laboratories, health care providers, and other data submitters.

ShowMe WorldCare Implementation Timeline

ShowMe WorldCare implementation will occur in several phases. Each phase will transition reportable conditions currently housed in three separate DHSS systems.

  • August 2024 - Conditions previously managed in EpiTrax (COVID-19, Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome associated with COVID-19 [MIS-C], and Mpox) were implemented in ShowMe WorldCare.
  • October 2024 - Environmental conditions previously managed in EnvSurv EXCEPT Lead were implemented in ShowMe WorldCare. This includes heavy metal poisoning conditions, occupational lung diseases, hyperthermia, hypothermia, and methemoglobinemia.
  • November 2024 - Lead
  • February 2025 - Most vaccine preventable, enteric, and waterborne conditions previously managed in WebSurv
  • April 2025 - Vectorborne/zoonotic conditions and Cyclosporiasis
  • May 2025 - Most remaining general communicable disease conditions and healthcare associated infections (HAIs)
  • July 2025 - Tuberculosis and remaining Influenza conditions
  • October 2025 - HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), Partner Services, and Data to Care
  • Other programs may join ShowMe WorldCare at a later time.

How to Submit Data to ShowMe WorldCare

  • LPHAs have direct access to ShowMe WorldCare and should enter information directly into the application. LPHAs with a high volume of new records to submit (e.g., from a clinic within the LPHA) may wish to reach out to the ShowMe WorldCare onboarding team to set up bulk reporting by HL7 or other means.
  • Other data submitters such as health care providers and laboratories that reach out to the LPHA regarding how to report can be directed to the electronic reporting website. Details on what and how to report are also available on this page.

How to Request a ShowMe WorldCare Account

  • New users at DHSS, local public health agencies, and Medicaid Case Management programs assisting the Lead program who did not have access to EpiTrax, EnvSurv, or WebSurv must submit an ASAP request. Any previous ShowMe WorldCare user whose account was deactivated due to 180+ days of inactivity must also submit new ASAP requests.
    • Conditions in ShowMe WorldCare are managed by several different programs at DHSS. Each program must approve access to the conditions that it manages. As a result, there are four ShowMe WorldCare options in ASAP.
      • A user who needs access to conditions managed by multiple programs will need to submit separate ASAPs so that each program can approve. For example, a user who needs access to General Communicable Diseases and Lead will need to submit one request under ShowMe WorldCare – Environmental Conditions and one request under ShowMe WorldCare – General Communicable Disease Conditions.
      • If submitting multiple ASAP requests, the user must pick the same Role Type under each condition group as only one Role Type can be assigned across ShowMe WorldCare. Selection of different Role Types for different conditions will result in delays in processing new account requests.
      • The ShowMe WorldCare: System Administration option is only available to staff in the DHSS Bureau of Data Modernization and Interoperability.
      • Select Investigator only if the user should be assigned cases to work. Otherwise, select Not an Investigator.
  • MODROP access is no longer available for DHSS and local public health agency staff as the same fields are now available in the main ShowMe WorldCare application. Non-public health data submitters who need access to MODROP should be directed to the MODROP website as this page contains instructions on how to submit a Help Desk ticket to request MODROP access.
