CNA instructors are required to receive a 4-hour update course every 5 years to maintain their instructor certification.
Missouri Healthcare Association and Missouri Association of Nursing Home Administrators have announced a "Save the Date" for those who are due for the upcoming trainings in 2027.
All class times are from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
Price is $200 per person and lunch is provided.

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) must complete an approved training program designed to prepare individuals for employment in a long-term care facility. The CNA program teaches skills in resident care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. The program consists of 75 classroom hours and 100 on-the-job training hours.
To become a Certified Medical Technician (CMT), applicants must first complete an approved CNA training course. CMT training consists of at least 60 classroom hours of instruction and a minimum or 8-hours of clinical practice under the direct supervision of an instructor. After completion, a CMT will be able assist licensed practical nurses or registered professional nurses in administration of nonparenteral medications.
Insulin Administration prepares medication technicians in a skilled or intermediate care facility or medication aides in a residential care facility or assisted living facility to administer insulin.
Level I Medication Aide, must complete an approved curriculum of a least 16 hours in order to qualify to administer medications in residential care facilities and assisted living facilities.
How to Renew a CNA Certification
To Keep a CNA License Active
You need to show proof that you've worked in nursing services for at least 8 hours during each 24-month period. If your inactive date is within 24 months, then submit the following, acceptable documents:
- Pay stubs
- W-2 Forms
- Letters from your employer, with the company name in the letterhead, with dates and duties listed

If You've Been Inactive for Less Than 5 Years
- No proof of work? You must retake and pass the final CNA exam before you can be reinstated.
- Proof of work every 24 months beginning two years prior to inactive date. The following documents will be needed:
- Pay stubs
- W-2 Forms
- Letters from your employer, with the company name in the letterhead, with dates and duties listed
Submit these documents and fill out the CNA Inactive/Expired form under the "Applications" icon in TMU; the link to the form is: TMU New Application
After you submit this form, it will be reviewed and a response will be sent for further instructions to complete the renewal process.
If You've Been Inactive for More Than 5 Years
- No proof of work? You're not allowed to just retake the final exam. You must complete the entire basic CNA course again before being reinstated.
- Proof of work every 24 months beginning two years prior to inactive date. The following documents will be needed:

- W-2 Forms
- Letters from your employer, with the company name in the letterhead, with dates and duties listed
