Laboratory Fees

Submitters will be charged fees on clinical specimens submitted for testing as follows:

  • Newborn Screening (as provided for in 19 CSR 25-36.010):
    $116.00 (effective 01/01/2024) (8) Effective July 1, 2019, a fee of up to one hundred thirty-five ($135) shall be charged for each specimen collection form used to obtain a newborn screening blood specimen. The Department of Health and Senior Services may collect the fee from any entity or individual described in 191.331.1, RSMo.
  • Tuberculosis (as provided for in 19 CSR 25-38.020):
    $48.00 (1) A fee of forty-eight dollars ($48) shall be charged for each clinical specimen submitted to the State Public Health Laboratory for tuberculosis testing. Clinical specimens include raw sputum samples, gastric lavage samples, urine specimens or pleural, spinal, and joint fluids, other exudates or tissue samples.
  • Blood Lead (as provided for in 19 CSR 20-8.030):
    $16.50 (6) Fee for Blood Lead Test Analysis. The State Public Health Laboratory shall charge a fee of sixteen dollars and fifty cents ($16.50) for each blood lead test performed by the laboratory. Such fee may be waived by the director of the Department of Health and Senior Services during an epidemiological investigation of vital importance to the public health.

Handling Charges

As provided in 19 CSR 25-38.010, submitters may be charged a handling charge of $10.00 per sample submitted for testing. Such tests that may be charged include, but are not limited to:

  • Drinking Water Testing from Private sources
  • Bordetella pertussis
  • Parasitology
  • HIV
  • Virus Culture
