Stencils can be used to paint shapes and designs on playgrounds at child care centers, schools and parks. Painted playgrounds have been shown to increase physical activity in young children. Stencil designs are inviting, fun and are great for sites with limited space or playground equipment.

A variety of stencil designs are available to borrow from the DHSS Bureau of Community Health and Wellness. A stencil request form must be completed by each facility that wants to borrow stencils. Arrangements will then be made to deliver stencils through local public health agencies.
