Healthy Lifestyles Initiative/ 12345 Fit-Tastic!
In collaboration with statewide partners, DHSS is supporting implementation of the Healthy Lifestyles Initiative/12345 Fit-Tastic within Missouri communities. Communities can collaborate using the MAPPS for Change planning framework to identify and outline actions. This method is useful regarding the prevention, assessment and treatment of child and adolescent overweight and obesity and can be used in a variety of settings.

MoCAN
The Missouri Council for Activity and Nutrition (MoCAN) is a coalition composed of representatives from statewide and local agencies, institutions, organizations, other coalitions, and individuals who collaborate to implement policy, systems and environmental (PSE) change to improve physical activity and eating behaviors of Missourians. MOCAN is supported and coordinated by the University of Missouri Extension and consists of a Steering Committee and several work groups and committees. Members find shared interest and projects by meeting in work groups in specific policy, systems and environmental settings.
MOCAN consist of a Steering Committee and the following work groups and committees.

- Healthcare
- Healthy Weight Advisory Committee
- Physical Activity
- Schools
- Worksites
Maternal Child Health Program
Many Missouri counties have selected obesity as a priority health issue. The local public health agencies (LPHAs) in these counties work on evidence-based system changes that will improve the nutrition and activity status of their residents. The Maternal Child Health contracts have resulted in the creation of walking trails community gardens and breastfeeding-friendly environments, improved school menus and healthy restaurant options and workplaces.
