Viral Hepatitis Committee Information
Mission
To reduce the burden of viral hepatitis among Missouri citizens by being a resource for education and awareness, testing and linkage to care.
Vision
Eliminate new viral hepatitis infections and improve the quality of life for Missourians living with chronic Hepatitis B and C.
The Missouri Viral Hepatitis Committee (the committee) is community driven and provides an opportunity for people interested in viral hepatitis prevention, care and treatment to work together to address the needs of Missouri citizens related to viral hepatitis. The committee is comprised of private citizens, community based organizations, state and local public health agencies, behavioral health and substance abuse treatment providers, healthcare providers and health educators. Any person who is infected with viral hepatitis (VH), affected by VH, at high risk to become infected with VH, and/or has a basic interest in addressing the needs of the viral hepatitis population is invited to attend the committee meetings.
The Committee is dedicated to our mission to reduce the burden of viral hepatitis in Missouri. To accomplish our mission, one role of the committee is to provide guidance regarding Missouri’s Viral Hepatitis Action Plan. The Plan includes raising public awareness through education, providing screening tests in local communities and referring clients to providers who treat viral hepatitis. Each individual or agency can offer ideas and insight regarding what they are able to contribute and what works for their local communities.
The committee meets in person once a quarter in the Mid-Missouri region. Between these meetings conference calls are held to discuss progress made on projects, provide updates or other items relative to viral hepatitis.
All individuals or agencies interested in joining the committee may contact a committee co-chair at:
