Show Me Water Safety

Show Me Water Safety is a comprehensive program developed through a collaborative community partnership committed to reducing the risk of injury and loss of life associated with recreational water activities. This initiative brings together professionals from diverse fields, such as aquatic safety, emergency response, and environmental education, all dedicated to equipping participants with essential water safety knowledge and skills.

Every registered participant between the ages of 4 and 12 will receive a Free lifejacket. All participants must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. First Impact

First Impact offers a FREE 90-minute evidence-based traffic safety program that educates parents about Missouri’s Graduated Driver License law. Attendance is perfect for parents of teen drivers ages 14 - 19 and new and soon-to-be drivers. First Impact aims to eliminate motor vehicle fatalities and injuries among teens. It further attempts to reduce teen-involved crashes by increasing parental awareness and enforcement of Missouri's GDL law. For more information, contact Carol Hoorman at 314-496-0110.

B.R.A.K.E.S Hands-on Driving Training
Date: July 19-20, 2025
Location: EVOC Training Center 2303 Militia Drive Jefferson City, MO 65101

B.R.A.K.E.S conducts hands-on, advanced driver training events for teens and their parents through both classroom and hands-on experience in a closed course in a controlled environment. Driving exercises include distracted driving awareness, panic braking, crash avoidance, car control/skid recovery, and drop-wheel/off-road recovery. Other elements include proper seat and mirror placement, proper use of seatbelts, eye scanning, CMV safety, what to do during a traffic stop and more. B.R.A.K.E.S. instructors come from various backgrounds, but all have extensive experience in advanced driver training and defensive driving instruction. B.R.A.K.E.S. classes are free but require a $99 credit card deposit to secure your reservation. Missouri’s 2025 Highway Safety and Traffic Conference
Date: September 16-18, 2025

LThe conference will feature a diverse, comprehensive agenda that addresses emphasis areas in the state’s strategic highway safety plan, Show-Me Zero, as well as a variety of traffic engineering topics. Speakers will include both local and national subject matter experts. The format will be the same as previous years, with a half-day general session, followed by a full day of 4 concurrent breakout sessions, and ending with a final half-day general session.
