The Missouri State Public Health Laboratory conducts IgM antibody testing for various arboviruses including Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), Western Equine Encephalitis (WEE), California Encephalitis (CE) Group, and St. Louis encephalitis (SLE).
Virology
EEE IgM, WEE IgM, SLE IgM, and CE antibody detection on single acute or convalescent serum using Indirect Immunofluorescence (IFA).
Testing is available only after consultation with the Arbovirus Program (573-751-6113 or (toll-free) 1-866-628-9891).
Collection kit contains one red-top blood collection tube, and freeze pillows.
At least 1 ml of serum
The ideal timing to collect acute serum is 3 to 10 days after onset of symptoms.
Serum should be stored and transported at refrigerator temperature (2-8°C) after collection. Ship with freezer pillow(s) provided. Specimens must be received within 5 days of collection.
If greater than 5 days after collection serum should be frozen (-20°C ) and shipped on dry ice.
