The Division of Senior and Disability Services provides Adult Protective Services (APS) to eligible adults who require assistance with abusive, neglectful, or exploitative situations. APS offers intervention, education, and prevention services along with supportive resources.
As an HCBS provider, you are a mandated reporter. Together with APS, you play an important role in helping seniors and adults with disabilities live lives free of abuse and neglect. For that reason, mandated reporters are required to report incidents to APS. There may be legal repercussions for failing to report suspected incidents of abuse, neglect, self-neglect, and exploitation.
Grievances
The Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) grievance process is a way for you (or someone you choose) to report concerns about the quality of your assessment, service planning, or the services you receive. You can file a grievance (complaint) at any time.
