We observe health and healthcare disparities that continue to disproportionately affect minority communities. Current state health data show that minority populations experience higher rates of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, HIV and other serious conditions. When disparities exist, the overall wellness of all residents is compromised. Addressing these inequities is essential to improving health outcomes and ensuring a healthier future for the entire state.

Mission:

Eliminate health disparities through leadership, education and visible interaction with minority communities in Missouri.

The office of Minority Health works to raise awareness about minority health by partnering with communities across the state. Minority health involves everyone — doctors, social service groups, businesses, faith communities, schools, leaders and community members. We encourage minority communities to make healthy choices, join health awareness activities and support others in doing the same.
