August 2019 revisions to Missouri Statute (RSMO 192.667) changed the way hospitals report HAI data to the department and how that data is shared with the public and other stakeholders. The revised statute requires all acute care hospitals to report HAI data required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Inpatient Quality Reporting Program through the CDC's National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN). NHSN in-turn shares the required data with CMS. They use this data to measure the quality of care provided by hospitals and to publish quality of care and safety reports.
