Eligible providers of care services can receive background information from the Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) on workers or persons applying to be workers who provide care to vulnerable individuals. Click to learn more about the Missouri-only information the FCSR provides.
Your organization may be able to request background information on workers who:
- Provide child care services.
- Provide elder care services. This includes nurses or nursing assistants in long-term care facilities, home health, and hospice.
- Provide personal care services and supports to people with disabilities.

The care workers or job applicants to be care workers must be registered with the FCSR before background information can be provided. Click to check if the person has submitted a registration with the FCSR.
There are three ways you as the employer of care workers can request background information from the FCSR:
- By calling 866-422-6872 weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. (except state holidays).
- By sending a completed Employer Background Screening Request form. The form will be worked in the order received.
- Through online access, after submitting needed forms from your organization and each employee who will access the FCSR online System.
It may take a few weeks to set up online access after receiving completed forms. In the meantime, you will use the other two methods to request background information.
