Community testing events are free testing opportunities with zero eligibility requirements.  If you desire to be tested, you can receive a test at these events.  There is no fee collected or charged to insurance for administration of the test.  DHSS makes this testing available in order to offer an opportunity for anyone desiring testing to do so without any financial barriers other than getting to the testing site.  Even as the number of new positive case counts decrease and more individuals are vaccinated, it is important to be tested to give yourself peace of mind that you are not asymptomatic and carrying a virus that could make someone else sick.  If you are symptomatic you most definitely should seek testing.  Many camps, events, and travel now require evidence of a test result before participation.

DHSS is partnering with an in-state laboratory and mobile testing service to offer these free testing events.  The test is a PCR test done by an anterior nares swab to determine the presence of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The swabbing is equivalent to rolling a Q-tip around the inside of your nose closest to your nasal openings (commonly referred to as the nostril).  This is not an antigen or antibody test.

Testing Sites:

There is no pre-registration or appointment needed to receive a test.  Having a state issued identification card available at the testing site will speed up the process immensely; however, no identification documents are required. As long as you arrive before the event closes, you will be guaranteed to receive a test.
