If you have questions, please contact Mark Davis at or 573-526-5323 or 800-392-8209.

  2. Participant Confidentiality: Local agencies have received several requests for confidential information about WIC participants. These requests for information may come from participants, healthcare providers, or government agencies. Prior to providing any confidential information, the local agency should review WOM ER# 1.01700 Participant Confidentiality. The local agency is required to obtain a release specifying the exact information requested, compare the signature on the release with the most current signature in the MOWINS record, provide the requested information to the participant and scan the signed release in the participant’s folder in MOWINS. Please review the policy for procedures on Complying with a Subpoena and Complying with Child Abuse Reporting Laws. For additional questions, local agencies should contact their Technical Assistance team or call the State WIC office at 1-800-392-8209.

  3. Basket Raffle Fundraiser for the Missouri 2012 WIC Conference-Jefferson City: “The Magic of WIC” will be held October 22-24, 2012 at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City. The Missouri WIC Association will sponsor the Basket Raffle again this year. We would like to invite you to donate a basket to our 2012 Basket Raffle Fundraiser. Please check the MWA website at for more information or contact Deb Cullum at 660-665-8491.

  4. WIC Food Package Change - Cheese: Missouri’s Food Packages Policy revisions have been approved by USDA. We will implement these changes for Food Instruments issued on and after October 9. The revised policies will be included in the WOM on October 9. Attached is more information about the food package revision, “What Local Staff Need to Know” (PDF and Word document).

You should also receive information about MOWINS as we get closer to the implementation date.

    The revisions include:

    • The Default Food Packages will not change.
    • One pound of cheese and one can of evaporated milk, may be issued to children and women in place of 1 gallon of milk without medical documentation (WIC 27).
    • Issuing more than one pound of cheese as a milk substitute to children and women requires medical documentation (WIC 27).
    • When issuing evaporated milk, the LWP staff must issue the appropriate evaporated milk adhering to the allowed fat content.

The Missouri WIC approved retailers have been notified of this change.

Although we must continue to monitor food costs, we think this will be a positive change that will benefit the participants. Thank you for all of the work you do to improve the health of women, infants and children in Missouri. We welcome any questions that you have about these revisions. If you have questions, please contact your District TA Nutritionist. (TWO ATTACHMENTS)
