  1. MOWINS Release 2.15.05 - July 2, 2012: The next MOWINS release into production is scheduled for Monday, July 2, 2012. We will be producing a recorded webinar approximately two weeks prior to the release date which will include information on enhancements and defect fixes. In order to assure a successful implementation on Monday, July 2nd, MOWINS production will not be available from 8:00 pm Friday, June 29 through 6:00 am Monday, July 2.   2. Memorial Day and Independence Day Holidays: The State WIC Office, including the WIC Help Desk, will be closed on Monday, May 28, 2012 and Wednesday, July 4, 2012. If you have questions, please contact Mark Davis at or 573-526-5323 or 800-392-8209.
  3. May WIC Invoices: WIC Invoices for May 2012, and prior months, submitted for payment in the month of June must be submitted through the Online WIC Invoicing System by close of business on Friday, June 8, 2012. Invoices submitted after that date will be held and paid in July, 2012. This change in schedule complies with the close of State Fiscal Year 2012 payment processing deadlines.   4. REMINDER-FFY 2013 LAP Training Registration: Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2013 WIC Local Agency Plan (LAP) training will be conducted at the Department’s ITSD Training Room, 920 Wildwood Dr., Jefferson City on June 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29, 2012. This year's training is optional, but is strongly recommended for new LAP users. Experienced LAP users or those who feel they need a refresher may view the FFY 2013 LAP e-Learning training sessions. You will be notified when the training sessions are available on the WIC web site in a future WIC Updates.   5. “The Business Case for Breastfeeding” Conference: The state WIC office and Wright County WIC is hosting “The Business Case for Breastfeeding” on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in West Plains and Thursday, July 19, 2012 in St. Charles. This conference covers how to present the “business case” for breastfeeding to employers, including understanding employer barriers to providing breastfeeding support, “business” messages that resonate, and creative outreach strategies. JOB OPPORTUNITY: WIC Peer Counselor-Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center
8 hours per week; flexible days and times
The Peer Counselor will work with WIC team members to encourage and support breastfeeding among WIC participants. This position will counsel pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers by telephone and in the WIC office at scheduled intervals; teach prenatal and breastfeeding classes with approved lesson plan provided by the health center. Current or previous enrollment in WIC preferred. Applicant must be able to speak Somali. Position requires three days of training to become a peer counselor.
