  1. Fourth Quarter Holiday Clinic Hours: We initially put this article in the WIC Updates of July 23, 2012. We would like to thank those agencies that have already provided feedback, and to remind those that have not completed the survey to please do so by August 31, 2012. We are asking agencies to complete a brief survey to determine WIC Help Desk Coverage for the following upcoming holidays: Columbus Day (October 8), Veterans Day (November 12), the day after Thanksgiving (November 23), and Christmas Eve (December 24). Questions may be directed to or by calling 800-392-8209 or 573-522-3639.

  2. REMINDER: WIC Help Desk Meeting: This is a reminder that there will be no WIC Help Desk coverage on Friday, August 24, 2012, from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. Although staff will not be available during these hours, feel free to leave a message and all calls will be returned as soon as possible. The purpose of these meetings is to review processes and procedures in order to provide the highest quality customer service to local agencies and WIC participants.

If you have questions, please contact Melissa Seaver at 800-554-2544 or

  3. Local Agency Plan (LAP) Information- important please read: Several agencies have reported that they are unable to update and/or save Evaluations while preparing the FFY2013 Local Agency Plan (LAP) and receive an error message when attempting to save. However, other information that is entered in the LAP appears to be saved.

We have discovered the reason this is occurring is that some users have added the link to the LAP from FFY2012 under “Favorites” and are accessing the application in this manner instead of through the WIC LAP link. The link for the FFY2012 LAP is being disabled; however, if any information was entered while accessing the LAP from a “Favorites” link for the FFY2012 LAP, some of that data may be lost.

Please review any data that you have entered in the LAP, to make sure it is correct, by accessing the FFY2013 LAP at the link above.

If you have any questions or need additional assistance, please contact Debby Hanlon by e-mail at or by calling 573-751-6196. Please share this information with others in your agency that need to know.

  4. Performance Measures Survey: The WIC Performance Measures project is a collaboration between the State WIC office and Local WIC Providers to focus on goals of ultimately improving services and improving health outcomes through Performance Measures. We have developed a PowerPoint presentation that will give local agencies information to assist the State office in the planning and implementation phase of WIC Performance Measures.

After viewing the attached PowerPoint presentation, we would like your input on plans for FY13, so please complete the following survey questions by September 14, 2012. If you completed the survey prior to viewing the presentation, you may view the presentation and complete and submit a new survey. Click on the following link to complete and submit the survey. If you have questions, contact Betty Cassidy at or call 800-392-8209. (ONE ATTACHMENT)

  5. Low Hemoglobin/Low Hematocrit RF 201 in LAP: In preparing the LAP, some agencies had concerns that their Needs Assessment data for the Low Hemoglobin/Low Hematocrit RF 201 had discrepancies when comparing 2012 to previous year’s data. We worked with our IT staff and have re-evaluated/revised these numbers, which will be pushed to the LWPs in the next week. If you have already submitted your LAP, it is not necessary that you re-submit your LAP. If you are including an objective related to low hemoglobin, you may want to wait for the revised data to use for completing your evaluation and updating your objective. If you have any questions, please contact your TA nutritionist.

  6. Updated WIC-8 Form: The WIC/Breastfeeding Resource Supply Request form (WIC-8) has been updated. Please begin using the new form when ordering supplies and resources from the DHSS Warehouse. If you have suggestions and/or questions, please contact Takako Tagami at (ONE ATTACHMENT)
