JOB POSTING: Part-Time Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist – Osage County Health Department
SUBJECT 1: Upcoming State Holiday. The WIC state agency will be closed, and there will be no MOWINS Help Desk support, on Monday, May 31.
SUBJECT 2: WIC Invoices. WIC invoices for May 2021 (submitted for payment in the month of June), along with prior months, must be submitted through the Online WIC Invoicing System by close of business Tuesday, June 8, 2021. Invoices submitted after that date will be held and paid in July 2021. This change in schedule complies with the close of the State Fiscal Year 2021 payment processing deadlines. If you have questions, please contact Laura Thompson at Laura.Thompson@health.mo.gov or 573-526-7901.
SUBJECT 3: WIC Conference Registration Information. The 2021 WIC Conference will be October 13-15, 2021 at the Holiday Inn Executive Center in Columbia. The conference offers opportunities to network with WIC colleagues, keep up to date on nutrition and breastfeeding trends, and visit with participating WIC exhibitors. The conference registration fee is $240 per person. The state agency (SA) will pay the registration fees for a limited number of staff from each local agency (LA) based on their FY 2019 contracted annual caseload as displayed on the October 2019 Administrative Cost Report (ACR). The number of staff that the SA will fund is listed on the chart below. In addition, the SA is pleased to provide funding for all breastfeeding peer counselors to attend.
|FFY 2019 Monthly Caseload||State Paid Registrations For WIC Staff Up To|
|Less than 500||2|
|501 – 1,000||3|
|1,001 – 2,000||4|
|2,001 – 3,000||5|
|3,000 and more||6|
LAs who wish to send more staff than what the SA is funding are responsible for paying the extra registrations. All LA staff planning to attend the conference MUST register online with the Missouri WIC Association (MWA) to attend. The SA is paying the registration fees directly to the MWA. LAs will receive an invoice following the registration with instructions for payment for staff that exceeds to number the SA will fund. Registration is not final until payment has been received. Confirmation will be sent upon receipt of payment.
The SA has also allocated funding for lodging, travel, and meals for the number of staff listed above, billable through FFY 2022 Special Funding. Lodging allocations will be based on single occupancy, though staff choosing to double occupy a room will be given first priority to stay on-site at the conference hotel to maximize the number of staff situated on-site. The main hotel will not accommodate all attendees, and alternate hotel sites will be utilized as needed. Travel allowance is based on two persons per vehicle at the state rate of .43 cents/mile. Meal allowance is calculated using the state per diem of $28 per day ($10 lunch, $18 dinner). Breakfast buffet will be provided on October 14th & October 15th.
MWA will be sending the registration link soon, but will only keep it active for 3 weeks. Funding left from LAs not attending or not sending their full number of allocated paid registrations (from the chart above) may be reallocated to other LAs to cover the registration fee for additional staff.
MWA will provide hotel reservation and registration information at a later date. If your LA needs assistance in covering registration costs to send staff that exceeds the number of the SA is paying for or you have other questions about registration, please contact Deb Cullum at Debra.Cullum@lpha.mo.gov
SUBJECT 4: MOWINS Maintenance. The data purging tool is ready to be placed into MOWINS. The maintenance tool will run after business hours and on the weekends while agencies are closed. The data purging tool will remove all child participant records that are 11 years and older, and mothers who have been inactive or have not been certified in six (6) years. After the participant data is removed from MOWINS, it will be deleted and no longer accessible. The retention period for this tool was determined by the Secretary of the State, and requires records to be kept at a minimum of five (5) years.
The state agency plans to run the data purging tool over the holiday weekend. If agencies will be open Saturday, May 29th or Monday, May 31st we will tailor the maintenance around the agency’s schedule. If your agency has not already responded, please complete the survey to inform us of your agency schedule over the holiday weekend.
Please direct any questions to Brittany Hawk at email@example.com
SUBJECT 5: Microcuvette Order. Missouri WIC requested the microcuvette orders be shipped to the local agencies, and some local agencies began receiving shipments on Friday, May 14, 2021. Once the order is received, please verify that the number of microcuvettes received matches the number listed on the packing slip.
If the number of microcuvettes in the package is the same as the packing slip, sign and date the packing slip. Please fax the signed packing slip to WIC Operations at 573-526-1470 or scan and email the signed packing slip to WICOperations@health.mo.gov within one week of receiving the shipment. Confirmation on the packing slip is required for the state agency to pay for the microcuvettes.
If the number of microcuvettes received is different from the packing slip, please call Jenna Rackers at 573-526-4622.
If you are unable to locate your packing slip, please send an email stating how many boxes you received and the date you received the shipment to WICOperations@health.mo.gov
Thank you for your prompt cooperation.
