SUBJECT 1: Guidance on Issuing Two Different Forms or Formula
SUBJECT 2: Adding a New Appointment Type in MOWINS
SUBJECT 3: Updated Income Guidelines

JOB POSTING: Full-Time WIC Clerk – Johnson County Community Health Services
JOB POSTING: Full-Time Client Services Specialist – Clay County Public Health Center

SUBJECT 1: Guidance on Issuing Two Different Forms of Formula. The Missouri WIC program provides formula in three different forms: powder, ready-to-feed (RTF), and concentrate. Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) has provided guidance for issuing formula when a participant needs two different formulations. For example, when a participant needs both powder and concentrate formulations of Similac Advance, the LA must issue only one form per month. The participant will receive powder one month and concentrate the next month. By issuing only one type of formulation each month, the participant can get the maximum allowance of formula for the month and also may avoid over-issuance. For any questions, please call the state agency at (800) 392-8209 and ask for the nutritionist on formula duty or your TA nutritionist.

SUBJECT 2: Adding a New Appointment Type in MOWINS. The MOWINS Help Desk has received several questions on how to add appointment types to the MOWINS scheduler. The state agency is aware that local agencies may have different needs in regards to appointment types. The steps below will assist you in adding a new appointment type. As a reminder, the Nutrition Coordinator, WIC Coordinator, and CPA roles are the only roles with permission to add the appointment type in the Central Administrative application.

Quick Steps:

  1. Open Central Administration.
  2. Select the Activities menu.
  3. Select Build Master Calendar.
  4. Select Calendar in the Build Clinic Calendar screen.
  5. Select Appointment Types from the drop-down.
  6. Select Add… in the Appointment Type screen.
  7. Add the new Appointment Type information.
  8. Select OK in the Appointment Type screen.
  9. Request staff in the agency to complete a Reset/Update to MOWINS to apply the new appointment type.

Please contact the MOWINS Help Desk at WICHelpDesk@health.mo.gov or 800-554-2544, if you have questions or are in need of additional assistance.

SUBJECT 3: Updated Income Guidelines. The income guidelines that will go into effect on Thursday, April 1, 2021 are attached. MOWINS will be updated on March 31 to reflect the new guidelines. The new guidelines will also be posted to the WIC website here on April 1, 2021.

Remember to Update and Reset Local Reference Data the next time you log onto MOWINS after March 31 to ensure the updated guidelines are included.

The laminated cards will be printed and sent out as soon as possible. If you have questions, please contact Lisa Ivy at Lisa.Ivy@health.mo.gov or 573-751-6204 or 800-392-8209.
