SUBJECT 2: Similac Contract Formula Resource. Abbott has provided a Nutrient Composition Chart for all Similac contract formulas. The attached resource is for staff use only and the information can help qualified staff compare macronutrient, micronutrient and ingredient content of these formulas. If you have any questions about this chart or formula comparison questions, please call the state agency at (800) 392-8209 and ask for the nutritionist on formula duty or your TA nutritionist.

SUBJECT 3: Breastfeeding Conference – March 5, 2021. The Greater Ozarks Regional Breastfeeding Coalition, along with CoxHealth, will be hosting a one-day breastfeeding virtual conference, “Refocus on Breastfeeding with 2020 Vision” on March 5, 2021 with guest speaker Catherine Watson Genna, BS, IBCLC. She will be presenting information on preventing failure to thrive in breastfeeding infants, giving updates on tongue ties, and discussing latching challenges. There will also be two local providers speaking on “Mental Health and Breastfeeding” and “Substance Use and Breastfeeding.” The registration fee is $50 which includes education credits for nursing and lactation. The conference will be held virtually with Microsoft Teams. Registration is now open here; registration deadline is February 28, 2021. Please see the flyer for more information.

 

WIC Positions

JOB POSTING: Full-Time Nutritionist/Dietitian – Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center. Samuel U Rodgers has an immediate full time opening for a Nutritionist/Dietitian in the WIC program. At minimum, the candidate must have graduated from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health Nutrition, Dietetics, Home Economics, or closely related field; including or supplemented by at least fifteen (15) semester hours in food and nutrition including diet therapy and community nutrition. JOB POSTING: Full-Time WIC Clerk/Health Professional Assistant (HPA). Family Care Health Centers is accepting applications for a full time WIC Clerk/Health Professional Assistant (HPA). Responsibilities include determining eligibility of WIC applicants, collecting and documenting height, weight, blood work data, and providing clerical support. Strong customer service skills required. Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED; 1+ years WIC experience preferred.

JOB POSTING: Full-Time Breastfeeding Peer Counselor – People’s Health Centers. People’s Health Centers WIC Program has an immediate opening for a full time Breastfeeding Peer Counselor in the WIC program. The candidate must have a high school diploma or GED, must have breastfed at least one baby. The selected candidate will provide breastfeeding information and support to WIC eligible participants.

JOB POSTING: Part-Time WIC Breastfeeding Counselor – Affinia Healthcare. The Affinia Healthcare WIC Program has an immediate opening for a part time (24 hours per week) Breastfeeding Peer Counselor position within the WIC Program. The selected candidate will give basic breastfeeding information, support and encouragement to new mothers and help mothers achieve their own breastfeeding goals. Candidate must be willing to accept after hour phone calls and make home and hospital visits. Personal breastfeeding experience is a must. Selected candidate will work 24 hours/week.
