SUBJECT 1: Upcoming Holidays. The WIC state agency will be closed, and there will be no MOWINS Help Desk support, on the following days:

  • Thursday, December 24
  • Friday, December 25
  • Friday, January 1

SUBJECT 2: FY20 Subrecipient Annual Financial Report. Each local agency must complete Attachment D - Subrecipient Annual Financial Report at the end of the fiscal year after the final invoice has been submitted. If the local agency has not sent this report, please do so by February 1, 2020. It may be scanned and emailed to WICOperations@health.mo.gov or faxed to 573-526-1470. SUBJECT 3: Upcoming Changes to WIC Learning Online Platform. The WIC Learning Online (WLOL) is getting an upgrade to new technology to improve the user experience. Additionally, some courses will receive updates to incorporate evidence-based research information. Current WIC staff and new users with pending WLOL courses need to complete their courses and print certificates by December 31, 2020. Effective January 1, 2021, all WLOL courses will become unavailable through the WLOL site and also for users that access them through the TRAIN platform. We anticipate all updates to be completed by May 1, 2021. All WLOL users will be notified when courses become available. JOB POSTING: Full-Time Nutritionist – Joplin City Health Department. The Joplin City Health Department is accepting applications for a full-time nutritionist within the WIC program. The nutritionist, under general supervision, is responsible for participating in the development and implementation of public health nutrition services and assuring that Women, Infants & Children (WIC) participants receive accurate nutrition assessments and appropriate nutrition education. Responsibilities also include determining health and nutritional risk factors for certification and recertification for WIC program eligibility, assigning appropriate food and formula packages, and teaching nutrition related classes, seminars, and workshops to groups, or one-on-one, to W.I.C. participants and in other community health programs including promoting breastfeeding.
