SUBJECT 1: FFY 2019 End-of-Year Invoices Due December 10, 2019. The deadline for submission of FFY (federal fiscal year) 2019 end-of-year invoices is Tuesday, December 10, 2019. Expenses must have been incurred prior to October 1, 2019 to qualify for the FFY 2019 funding year. The grant year will close at the end of December and payments beyond this date are not possible. Supplemental invoices are due 12-10-2019 - ABSOLUTE DEADLINE.

SUBJECT 2: MWA Survey – Enter for a Chance to Win! The Missouri WIC Association (MWA) is asking ALL local agency staff for their participation in this short survey to help MWA serve you and your agencies better. Every local agency staff member who completes the survey will be entered to win a $25.00 VISA gift card. Must be a WIC local agency staff to win. Winners will be drawn on December 9th.

SUBJECT 3: WIC State Agency Phone Lines December 9-10, 2019. On December 9th and 10th all WIC State Agency staff must attend mandatory off-site meetings. The main WIC phone line (800-392-8209) will not be answered or monitored for messages during these times. If you have an emergency or situation that affects service provision or benefit issuance to WIC participants, please contact the MOWINS Help Desk at the contact information below.

The WIC main telephone line will not be monitored:
Monday, December 9th from 12:30 p.m. – to 5 p.m.
Tuesday, December 10th from 8 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.

If you are in need of MOWINS assistance, staff are encouraged to email the WIC Help Desk at or leave a voicemail on the MOWINS Help Desk line at 800-554-2544. The MOWINS Help Desk will check email and voicemail frequently and will respond as soon as possible.

SUBJECT 4: Upcoming State Holidays. The WIC state agency will be closed, and there will be no MOWINS Help Desk coverage on the following days:

  • Thursday, November 28
  • Friday, November 29
  • Wednesday, December 25
  • Wednesday, January 1

SUBJECT 5: Annual Public Notification. This is a reminder that the annual public notification is due by the end of the first quarter (December 31) per policy 1.05700 Local Responsibility: Civil Rights Compliance and Public Notification. Local agencies must publicly announce program benefits, including eligibility criteria for participation, the location of the local agency, and any satellite(s). The public notification/news release should have an emphasis on reaching and enrolling eligible women in the early months of pregnancy, and migrants. The news release should be maintained on file. The state agency news release has been released and a template has been attached as an example. Contact your administrative TA with any questions.

SUBJECT 6: Text4Baby Campaign Update. In the past, the Missouri WIC program has contributed messages to the Text4Baby campaign, but going forward the WIC program will no longer release specific WIC-related messages. Local agencies are still encouraged to refer participants to Text4Baby. Text4Baby sends free text messages with health information and helpful tips during pregnancy and until the baby turns 1 year old. Please contact your district technical team if you have any questions.

JOB POSTING: WIC Nutritionist – Taney County Health Department. The Taney County Health Department will be accepting resumes for a full time, 40 hour per week, non-exempt Nutritionist for the WIC Program. The selected candidate will provide nutrition and breastfeeding education to WIC eligible participants and assess their nutritional needs for certification eligibility. A Certified Lactation Counselor or IBCLC is preferred, as well as previous WIC experience. Minimum requirements: The candidate must have graduated from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health Nutrition, Dietetics, Home Economic, or closely related field; including or supplemented by at least fifteen (15) semester hours in food and nutrition including diet therapy and community nutrition. JOB POSTING: Community Dietitian – Family Care Health Centers. Family Care Health Centers is accepting applications for a part-time (32 hrs./week) Community Dietitian. Responsibilities include providing nutrition education and counseling to eligible WIC families, outpatient medical nutrition therapy, and community outreach. Qualifications: BS in Nutrition, RD or RD eligible; Licensed in Missouri.
