SUBJECT 1: Maternal and Child Health Needs Assessment Focus Group Study. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has entered into a partnership with the Southeast Missouri State Center for Environmental Analysis to assist in completing a statewide needs assessment related to maternal and child health. The Center is planning to request to place flyers in various health locations, including local public health agencies and WIC clinics. It is the agency or clinic’s decision whether to assist in this study by allowing flyers to be placed. WIC staff should not hand flyers out directly to WIC participants, nor promote the study during WIC appointments. The Center might also request the use of a room in these facilities, to conduct survey groups with interested individuals. The Center staff conducting the research will not request WIC a participant list, nor approach WIC participants arriving at or leaving the clinic. WIC participants and non-WIC participants will have the option of contacting the Center with the information on the flyer to participate in the focus group. Focus group participants will receive a $25 gift card for their cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns about the survey, please contact your district technical assistance staff.
