SUBJECT 1: WIC Invoices. WIC invoices for May 2019 (submitted for payment in the month of June), along with prior months, must be submitted through the Online WIC Invoicing System by close of business Friday, June 7, 2019. Invoices submitted after that date will be held and paid in July 2019. This change in schedule complies with the close of the State Fiscal Year 2019 payment processing deadlines. SUBJECT 2: Upcoming State Holiday. The WIC state agency will be closed, and there will be no MOWINS Help Desk coverage on Monday, May 27, 2019.
SUBJECT 3: FFY 2020 WIC Local Agency Plan (LAP) Application Technical Training Reminder. The deadline to register for LAP training is May 29, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. LAP training will be conducted June 17, 18, 20, and 21, 2019 at the Department of Health and Senior Services, 930 Wildwood Drive, Jefferson City, MO in the Maple Conference room. This one-day training focuses on how to use the administrative and nutritional screens in the LAP application. Attendees will log into a test environment and practice making entries to learn how information is entered and used in the application. The training is optional, but is strongly recommended for new LAP users and those who would like a refresher. Training laptops will be provided. SUBJECT 4: Save the Date: International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) Exam Preparation Course. The WIC state agency is hosting an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Exam Preparation course on August 19-23, 2019 in St. Charles, MO. This course will meet 45 hours of the lactation specific education needed to be an exam candidate by the International Board Lactation Consultants Examiners (IBLCE). Registration for this course will open soon, so please watch for the registration link in the WIC Updates. The state agency expects to host a 45 hour course once per year, for the next four years, in regional locations around the state. Due to this, preference for seating for this course will be given to those near the St. Louis region. JOB POSTING: Full Time WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor - Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Centers. The WIC Program at Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Centers utilizes Breastfeeding Peer Counselors as paraprofessionals to give basic breastfeeding information, support and encouragement to pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. They serve as role models and function as a resource for breastfeeding families. Candidates must have at least one previous experience breastfeeding a child to be qualified for this position.
