SUBJECT 1: WIC Invoices. WIC invoices for May 2019 (submitted for payment in the month of June), along with prior months, must be submitted through the Online WIC Invoicing System by close of business Friday, June 7, 2019. Invoices submitted after that date will be held and paid in July 2019. This change in schedule complies with the close of the State Fiscal Year 2019 payment processing deadlines. SUBJECT 2: FFY 2019 Missouri WIC Program Marketing Plan. The state agency has a FFY 2019 marketing plan with several objectives, which include increasing use of the program by eligible participants and overcoming the stigma associated with the WIC program. This statewide campaign starts the week of May 13th and includes radio public service announcements, display ads, social media (Facebook and Instagram) and YouTube marketing to promote the Missouri WIC program. SUBJECT 3: Updated Missouri WIC Outreach Brochure. The state agency has updated the outreach brochure with the new income guidelines. The brochure will be printed and available in the warehouse in a few months. Until then, the brochure with the current income eligibility guidelines is available for download on the WIC website under Outreach. Please share this brochure with places frequented by WIC-eligible families, such as health care providers, child care centers, places of worship, schools, and other community organizations. SUBJECT 4: Upcoming State Holiday. The WIC state agency will be closed, and there will be no MOWINS Help Desk coverage on Monday, May 27, 2019.

The WIC Program at Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Centers utilizes Breastfeeding Peer Counselors as paraprofessionals to give basic breastfeeding information, support and encouragement to pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. They serve as role models and function as a resource for breastfeeding families. Candidates must have at least one previous experience breastfeeding a child to be qualified for this position.
