SUBJECT 1: Upcoming State Holidays. The WIC state agency will be closed, and there will be no MOWINS Help Desk coverage on Thursday, July 4, 2019 and Friday, July 5, 2019.
SUBJECT 2: WIC State Agency Nutrition Job Opportunities. The Missouri WIC state agency is seeking highly motivated Missouri licensed Registered Dietitians to join the Missouri WIC team! Both positions have an application close date of Friday, July 12, 2019.
Nutrition Services Manager: Missouri WIC program is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Nutrition Services Manager in Jefferson City. This highly responsible supervisory position oversees the nutritional aspects of Missouri WIC and the Missouri Breastfeeding Program. This position is ideal for an organized, motivated team builder with a passion for promoting nutrition and breastfeeding among Missouri's women, infants, and children. Nutritionist III: The Missouri WIC program is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Nutritionist III in Jefferson City. This position is ideal for applicants with strong communication skills and the ability to apply in-depth knowledge of nutrition in pregnancy, infancy, and childhood. Excellent customer service, ability to work as a team member, prioritization, initiative, and confidentiality skills are essential. A Missouri Registered Dietitian license is required. SUBJECT 3: Updated Food & Formula Reference Guide (FFRG) - Effective July 1, 2019. The FFRG Guidelines have been updated and posted on the website. If you have any questions, please contact your district nutritionist.
SUBJECT 4: Nutrition Education Opportunity: University of Minnesota National Maternal Nutrition Intensive Course. The National Maternal, Infant and Child Nutrition Course will be offered again this summer! This two-day, in-person course takes place on August 1 and 2, and will feature sessions on the relationship between pre- and post-pregnancy diets and infant health, what to do with a picky eater, and more. The course is offered as either a face to face or online self-paced course. It is designed for dietitians, nutritionists, certified nurse midwives, registered nurses and nurse practitioners, physicians, and public health professionals who serve pre-conceptual, pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women.
- Conference Fees: August 1–2, 2019 conference registration - $150
- Online Program: Access to the Canvas site will be available beginning September 1 and will close on November 30. The registration fee for the online program is $35 and includes the course materials, access to sessions, and a certificate of completion. The $35 fee is nonrefundable.
- Accreditation: This program has been approved for up to 11 hours of continuing professional education (CPEs) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

SUBJECT 5: Missouri WIC Association Election Information. The Missouri WIC Association (MWA) is seeking applications for the positions of President Elect, Vice President, Secretary, Central District Board Member, Northeast District Board Member, and Northwest District Board Member.
The purpose of MWA is to link local WIC agencies in the statewide forum to act collectively on behalf of the WIC program. Specifically, MWA provides peer support and opportunities to exchange information, works toward quality community nutrition by influencing public health and nutrition services at the state and national levels, enhances professional knowledge by providing workshops, promotes legislative awareness, and participates in the planning and implementation of the Biennial WIC Conference. All local agencies are members of MWA. Actively participating in MWA is a great way to learn more about what is happening across the state and improve communication and practices within your district and agency.

JOB POSTING: Nutritionist/Dietitian - People’s Health Centers. People’s Health Centers WIC Program has an immediate opening for a full time Nutritionist/Dietitian in the WIC program. The candidate must have graduated from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health Nutrition, Dietetics, Home Economics, or closely related field; including or supplemented by at least fifteen (15) semester hours in food and nutrition including diet therapy and community nutrition. The selected candidate will provide nutrition education to WIC eligible participants and assess their nutritional needs for certification eligibility.
