JOB POSTING: Nutritionist/Dietitian - Affinia Healthcare

SUBJECT 1: Partial Federal Government Shutdown Update. In light of the partial federal government shutdown, Missouri WIC is closely monitoring available funding and estimated obligations. Missouri WIC has determined that there continues to be sufficient funding to meet program expenses through February 2019. We feel it is important to keep WIC local agencies informed of the status of the WIC program to ensure that participants can continue to receive WIC services without interruption. Retailers were notified on January 7, 2019 that they should continue to redeem WIC checks.

Missouri WIC will continue to monitor available funding and obligations very carefully. In the event that the partial federal government shutdown is still in effect on January 31, or should the program’s funding estimates change, we will inform local agencies and retailers about updated operating estimates. Local agencies should continue to provide WIC services until further notice with confidence that they will be reimbursed.

SUBJECT 2: eWIC Local Agency Communication Liaison. To better facilitate communication related to eWIC updates, each local agency needs to appoint an “eWIC Local Agency Communication Liaison.” This liaison will serve as the point of contact for the state agency in regard to eWIC information. It will be the liaison’s responsibility to disseminate the eWIC information to local agency staff. By no later than Friday, January 18, 2019, please complete the survey by clicking here:

This will allow the state agency to obtain the contact information for the appointed eWIC Local Agency Communication Liaison. In the future, as questions arise within your local agency regarding eWIC, the liaison may direct those questions to their administrative technical assistance staff who will provide clarification or communicate with the eWIC team at the state agency.

SUBJECT 3: MOWINS Help Desk Closure. The MOWINS Help Desk will be closed on January 15, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

The MOWINS Help Desk will check email and voicemail frequently during the closure time and will respond as soon as possible.

SUBJECT 4: Upcoming State Holiday. The WIC state agency will be closed, and there will be no MOWINS Help Desk coverage on January 21, 2019.

SUBJECT 5: Nutritionist III Position. The Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), Bureau of WIC and Nutrition Services, currently has an opening for a Nutritionist III. This position is located in Jefferson City. Please see the attached position blurb for additional information. Interested individuals must be eligible for the job classification of a Nutritionist III located here. Please submit an application and resume to Dora Crawford at by close of business on February 1, 2019.

SUBJECT 6: “Using Loving Support to Grow and Glow in WIC” Training. Please remember all new local agency staff are required to attend the training "Using Loving Support to Grow and Glow in WIC" within six (6) months of the date they are hired. Nutritionists and CPAs must attend both days of training and all other staff (WIC coordinators, WIC clerks, HPAs, certifiers) need only attend the first day, with the second day being optional.

There are several training sessions scheduled in FFY 2019 in Jefferson City and other sites throughout the state. For a list of training sites and dates click here. Registration for this training is now available online and can be accessed by clicking here. If you have questions about this training, please contact Lisa Schlientz at or by phone at 573-751-6468.
