SUBJECT 1: 2018 WIC Conference Expenses. The deadline to submit billing for 2018 WIC Conference expenses on the monthly WIC invoice under Special Funding 5 is Friday, March 15, 2019. The expenses must have been incurred during the WIC Conference held in Branson on October 3-5, 2018. Billing for WIC Conference expenses after March 15, 2019 will not be available under Special Funding 5.
Please contact your District Technical Assistance staff if you need assistance. If you have any questions, please contact Laura Thompson at 573-526-7901, 800-392-8209, or email@example.com.
SUBJECT 2: Personal Accessory Set and Manual Breast Pump Order. The state agency has a limited amount of Hygeia personal accessory sets and EnHande manual breast pumps to disburse to local agencies. The Hygeia personal accessory set contains all the parts for both the Hygeia EnJoye and Medela Lactina Select electric breast pumps. The state agency anticipates offering another opportunity later in the year to order more manual pumps and personal accessory sets, as well as electric breast pumps.
If you would like to receive manual breast pumps and personal accessory sets, please complete the attached order form and email to firstname.lastname@example.org by COB on Friday, March 22, 2019. If you have any questions, please contact the State Breastfeeding Coordinator, Lisa Schlientz, at email@example.com or by phone at 573-751-6468.
SUBJECT 3: Risk Factor 142: There have been several reported calls to the MOWINS Help Desk, where Risk Factor 142 is assigning high risk to a participant. MOWINS does have a reported bug for this issue, and it will be addressed at a future date. In the meantime, all local agency staff should be aware that the risk factor may not be assigning the high risk correctly. If the participant is flagged as high risk and should not be, then the agency should resolve the high risk. Local agency staff should document in MOWINS that the high risk was assigned incorrectly. Please note that if there are any other high risk factors assigned to a participant, staff should not resolve the high risk, as this will resolve all high risks.
SUBJECT 4: Fundamentals of Breastfeeding: An 18 Hour Course. The WIC state agency is hosting the “Fundamentals of Breastfeeding: An 18 Hour Course” at two locations in the state. This training is for nutritionists, nurses, and peer counselors who need a comprehensive course to prepare them to assist breastfeeding mothers with normal lactation and common breastfeeding challenges. Dates and training sites are scheduled for Springfield on July 23-25, 2019 and Columbia on July 29-31, 2019. Please register here. If you have questions, please contact Mercedes Printz by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 573-526-5270.
