SUBJECT 1: WIC Resumes Normal Operations
SUBJECT 2: Save the Date: Webinar Opportunity for WIC Agencies on Oral Health

SUBJECT 1: WIC Resumes Normal Operations. Thank you for your patience during the partial federal government shutdown. During that time, limited information was available to share with local agencies. The Missouri WIC program is continuing normal program operations and would like all local agencies to continue to do the same. Missouri has now received its full second quarter funding allocation from USDA and anticipates receiving funding on the same schedule as in previous years.

As federal government operations have resumed, the state agency does not intend to issue regular funding updates. Please continue to provide normal WIC services and benefits as stated in your FFY 2019 Local Agency Nutrition Services contract. Thank you for your cooperation and for your help in providing nutritious food and nutrition and breastfeeding services to WIC participants in Missouri.

SUBJECT 2: Save the Date: Webinar Opportunity for WIC Agencies on Oral Health. FNS will host a one-hour informational webinar for WIC staff on March 6, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. (CST), titled “Oral Health in the WIC Program.” The webinar will highlight:

  • The importance of oral health in overall health and as part of special concerns in infant feeding and development.
  • The role of the WIC program in preventing oral health issues in women, infants, and children through nutrition risk assessment, education, and referral services.
  • Tips for parents and caregivers to prevent oral health issues among infants and children.
  • The importance of partnership between WIC and local public health agencies as a part of oral health referral services.
