SUBJECT 1: Increase in Cash Value Benefit (CVB) for Children. The CVB for fruits and vegetables will increase from $8.00 to $9.00 for children ages one (1) through four (4) years of age. The increase for children will be reflected in any CVB issued on or after October 1, 2018. The monthly value of the CVB for pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women will remain the same.

Food Package III authorizes that the CVB may be substituted for jarred infant food fruit and vegetables for women and children participants whose special dietary needs require the use of pureed foods. The new substitution rate for children issued Food package III who require pureed infant food is $9.00 CVB for 144 ounces (36 jars or 18 twin packs) infant food fruits and vegetables.

Beginning October 1, 2018, a new default food package must be added for all children receiving the CVB before issuing the next set of benefits. When the CVB is substituted for jarred infant food fruit and vegetables in a current food prescription, make sure to update any future food prescriptions as well. SUBJECT 2: MOWINS Help Desk Closure. The MOWINS Help Desk will be closed on the following dates and times:

  • Tuesday, September 25 from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

The MOWINS Help Desk will check email and voicemail frequently during the closure times and will respond as soon as possible.

SUBJECT 3: Basket Raffle Fundraiser for the Missouri 2018 WIC Conference. The Missouri WIC Association (MWA) will sponsor the basket raffle fundraiser again this year at the 2018 Missouri WIC Conference held October 3-5, 2018 in Branson. The MWA would like to invite staff at the local agencies to donate a basket and we hope to have a great selection as we have had in past years, so be creative in selecting the theme of your basket. If you are donating a basket for the raffle fundraiser, please bring it to the registration desk at the conference. Responsibilities include determining eligibility of WIC applicants, collecting and documenting height, weight, blood work data, and providing clerical support. Strong customer service skills required.
