SUBJECT 4: The Missouri WIC Association (MWA) Elections. MWA is seeking applications for the positions of President Elect, Treasurer, Eastern District Representative, Southeast District Representative, and Southwest District Representative.
The purpose of MWA is to link WIC local agencies in the statewide forum to act collectively on behalf of the WIC program. Specifically, MWA provides peer support and opportunities to exchange information, works toward quality community nutrition by influencing public health and nutrition services at the state and national levels, enhances professional knowledge by providing workshops, promotes legislative awareness, and participates in the planning and implementation of the Biennial WIC Conference. All local agencies are members of MWA. Actively participating in MWA is a great way to learn more about what is happening across the state and improve communication and practices within your district and agency.
Specific information about the positions up for election can be found on the application forms (attached). Interested candidates should send a completed application form to Heidi Loecke, MWA Vice President, at Heidi.firstname.lastname@example.org by June 29, 2018.
SUBJECT 5: Save-The-Date Missouri WIC Conference. The state agency is pleased to support the 2018 Missouri WIC Conference, scheduled October 3-5, 2018, at the Hilton Branson Convention Center. The conference offers opportunities to network with WIC colleagues, keep up to date on nutrition and breastfeeding trends, and visit with participating WIC exhibitors. The conference registration fee is $240 per person. As in the past, the state agency will assist with registration fees and travel costs for local agencies.
New this year will be a bulletin board design competition. Local agencies may submit pictures of their favorite bulletin board designs electronically. More information on how to submit, award categories, and the submission deadline will be provided later. Please begin thinking about a creative design that you may want to submit. Information on local agency funding, conference agenda, and how to register will be announced soon.
