- Thursday, June 14 all day
- Thursday, June 21 from 8:30-10:30 a.m.

SUBJECT 2: The Missouri WIC Association (MWA) Elections. MWA is seeking applications for the positions of President Elect, Treasurer, Eastern District Representative, Southeast District Representative, and Southwest District Representative.
The purpose of MWA is to link WIC local agencies in the statewide forum to act collectively on behalf of the WIC program. Specifically, MWA provides peer support and opportunities to exchange information, works toward quality community nutrition by influencing public health and nutrition services at the state and national levels, enhances professional knowledge by providing workshops, promotes legislative awareness, and participates in the planning and implementation of the Biennial WIC Conference. All local agencies are members of MWA. Actively participating in MWA is a great way to learn more about what is happening across the state and improve communication and practices within your district and agency.
Specific information about the positions up for election can be found on the application forms (attached). Interested candidates should send a completed application form to Heidi Loecke, MWA Vice President, at Heidi.email@example.com by June 29, 2018.
SUBJECT 3: MOWINS Participants. The only participants to be entered into MOWINS are actual participants who receive or could receive WIC benefits. Local agencies should NOT create any test or fake participants in MOWINS. Any test or fake participants entered into MOWINS affect data outputs in crystal reports and could potentially place your agency at risk for fraud investigation. For any questions regarding entering test or fake participants into MOWINS, please contact the MOWINS Help Desk at 1-800-554-2544.
SUBJECT 4: Income Screening and Household Size - Pregnant Women. According to 7 CFR 246.7(d)(2)(vii), “a pregnant woman who is ineligible for participation in the program because she does not meet income guidelines shall be considered to have satisfied the income guidelines if the guidelines would be met by increasing the number of individuals in her family by the number of embryos or fetuses in utero.” The family size should not automatically be increased. The household size should only be increased if the pregnant woman did not meet the income guidelines during the initial determination. However, the pregnant woman should first have the option to deny the increase in household size for religious, cultural and/or other reasons. WOM policy ER# 3.02000 - Income Assessment and Documentation does not currently comply with guidance the state agencies have received on the federal regulation and is in the process of being revised and notification will be sent to local agencies when it is approved.
- Please increase household size for pregnant women by the number of fetuses in utero only after verifying that the participant wishes to do so.
- Review any materials developed by your local agency that refer to household size and pregnant women to ensure the materials indicate that household size may be increased for pregnant women, but not that household size will automatically be increased. If you have questions about the verbiage to use on your print materials, please contact your administrative TA staff.
