JOB POSTING: Part-Time WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor - St. Charles County Health Department
SUBJECT 1: Upcoming Holidays. The WIC state agency will be closed and there will be no MOWINS Help Desk coverage on February 12, 2018 and February 19, 2018.
A listing of all 2018 State and Federal holidays is located here.
SUBJECT 2: MOWINS Clerk/HPA Update. Currently all users who have the role of Clerk/HPA also have the role of Temp Clerk; this Temp Clerk role grants access in MOWINS to food prescriptions. Per policy Clerk/HPAs should not be prescribing or tailoring any food prescriptions, therefore we will be removing the role of Temp Clerk associated with all Clerk/HPAs. For more information on what a Clerk/HPA is allowed to do refer to ER# 2.01700. On February 19th, Clerk/HPAs will no longer have both roles. All agencies are encouraged to run the “UserIDs Active in Agency Detail” crystal report to see if anyone currently has that role assigned to any users. If that role is assigned, and the user needs access to food prescriptions then a new ASAP request must be submitted to request the appropriate role. All local agency staff should do a reset/update daily, and call the MOWINS Help Desk if they encounter any problems or have any questions.
SUBJECT 3: CEU Corner.
Family Meals Matter: Barriers, Benefits, and Strategies for Eating Together
Eating family meals together is the best recipe for encouraging good eating habits, healthy body weight in children and adolescents, and reduced risk for eating disorders. Kids who break bread with their families also get better grades in school, eat more fruits and vegetables, and consume fewer soft drinks. Despite the benefits to both body and soul, just 30% of families eat dinner together every night. This live session will explore the benefits of, barriers to (some of them may surprise you), and creative and doable strategies for nurturing family mealtime. It will be presented by Liz Weiss on February 21, 2018, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. CST, and sponsored by Today’s Dietitian Learning Library.
