SUBJECT 5: Notice of Bid Opportunity: Fluoride Varnish Program. The Office of Dental Health is now accepting bids from Local Public Health Agencies (LPHAs) for the Fluoride Varnish Program, funded through HRSA, Missouri Foundation for Health, and Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City. There will be four LPHAs chosen to provide fluoride varnish to the teeth of children 0-18 years of age who visit their LPHA, either for a WIC appointment or otherwise, and local agencies will bill Medicaid or insurance for reimbursement of the fluoride varnish for eligible children. Costs for the application of fluoride varnish, including personnel costs, are not WIC allowable, but the Office of Dental Health expects this program to be self-sustaining. Participation in the Fluoride Varnish Program is voluntary and participation will not impact eligibility for the WIC program.
