SUBJECT 1: 2018 WIC Conference and Registration Information. The 2018 WIC Conference will be October 3-5, 2018 at the Hilton Branson Convention Center. The conference offers opportunities to network with WIC colleagues, keep up to date on nutrition and breastfeeding trends, and visit with participating WIC exhibitors. The conference registration fee is $240 per person. The state agency (SA) will pay the registration fees for a limited number of staff from each local agency (LA) based on caseload. The number of staff that the SA will fund is listed on the chart below. The SA will pay for all breastfeeding peer counselors to attend.

LAs that wish to send more staff than what the SA is funding are responsible for paying the extra registrations. All LA staff planning to attend the conference MUST register online with the Missouri WIC Association (MWA) in order to attend! The SA is paying the registration fees directly to the MWA. LAs will receive an invoice following registration with instructions for payment for staff that exceeds the number the SA will fund. Registration is not final until payment has been received. Confirmation will be sent upon receipt of payment.

The SA has also allocated funding for lodging, travel, and meals for the number of staff listed above, billable through FFY 2019 Special Funding 5. Lodging allocations are based on double occupancy. Travel allowance is based on two persons per vehicle at the state rate of .37 cents/mile and an overnight parking fee of $13 per night. Meal allowance is calculated using the state per diem of $28.00 per day ($10.00 lunch, $18.00 dinner).

To register for the conference, complete the online registration by August 31, 2018. Funding left from LAs not attending may be reallocated to other LAs to cover the registration fee for additional staff. If your LA needs assistance in covering registration cost to send staff that exceeds the number the SA is paying for or you have other questions about registration, please contact Deb Cullum at Debra.Cullum@lpha.mo.gov

Each agency is responsible for making their own hotel reservations. The hotels at the conference center no longer have rooms available. Below are three nearby hotels that still have rooms available:
