Once the WIC-27 has expired, please work with the participant’s health care provider to find a substitute that is on the revised FFRG Formula Listing. The special formulas listed above will be inactivated in MOWINS on November 1, 2018. Please see previous WIC Updates on the changes and inactivation dates in MOWINS for the ready-to-use (RTU) versions of Enfamil Gentlease and Enfamil Infant. SUBJECT 3: WIC Breastfeeding Friendly WIC Clinic Application. The purpose of this statewide effort is to implement evidence-based breastfeeding strategies to encourage and recognize local agencies that offer an optimal level of breastfeeding support. The WIC Breastfeeding Task Force worked with the state agency to develop the specific criteria that must be met to be recognized as a “Breastfeeding Friendly WIC Clinic.”
If your agency would like to apply for “Breastfeeding Friendly” status for FFY 2019, complete the online application. If you completed an ASAP request for the BFPC application you will also have access to this application. Once it is determined that your agency meets all the criteria, your agency will be recognized as a “Breastfeeding Friendly WIC Clinic” for FFY 2019 and will receive a framed certificate to hang in your clinic and additional funding. The deadline for completing the application is COB on Friday, May 25, 2018. If you have any questions please contact Lisa Schlientz at Lisa.Schlientz@health.mo.gov or by phone at 573-751-6468.

SUBJECT 7: New! Add/Replace Report. The new data report, Add/Replace, shows all checks issued through “Add/Replace” in MOWINS within the past year. A shorter time frame (1-11 months) may be requested as a parameter. Any general note entered on the same day as the “Add/Replace” check was issued is printed on the report. SOAP notes entered on that same day are indicated, but not printed in its entirety on the report. Food items printed on the “Add/Replace” check are listed. Amounts of food items are not listed. If the check was issued as a direct ship (formula issued off the shelf, shipped from the state agency, or manufacturer) the report shows “DS”.

Use this report to:

  • Monitor the issuance of checks issued through “Add/Replace”
  • Review documentation for “Add/Replace”
  • Ensure formula issued from the shelf is issued as a direct ship through “Add/Replace”
  • Ensure staff are working within their scope

Please contact your assigned district nutritionist if you have questions.
