JOB POSTING: WIC Nutritionist - Taney County Health Department
SUBJECT 1: WIC Invoices. WIC invoices for May 2017 (submitted for payment in the month of June), along with prior months, must be submitted through the Online WIC Invoicing System by close of business Thursday, June 8, 2017. Invoices submitted after that date will be held and paid in July 2017. This change in schedule complies with the close of the State Fiscal Year 2017 payment processing deadlines. SUBJECT 2: FFY 2018 WIC Local Agency Plan (LAP) Training. LAP training will be conducted June 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30, 2017 at the Department of Health ITSD Training Room, located at 920 Wildwood Dr., Jefferson City. This one-day training is optional, but is strongly recommended for new LAP users and those who would like a refresher. Click here for more information and to register for the training. SUBJECT 3: REMINDER - Maximizing Nutrition During the WIC Lifecycle Training Registration. Don’t forget to register for the “Maximizing Nutrition During the WIC Lifecycle Training” with Jennifer Bean which will be held at three locations throughout Missouri from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on:
- July 19th in Springfield at the Library Center
- July 20th in Berkeley at the St. Louis County Department of Public Health
- July 21st in Independence at the Northwestern District Health Office
WIC nurses, nutritionists and dietitians will learn how changes in anatomy, physiology, and body composition affect nutrient needs during infancy, early childhood, and pregnancy. They will also recognize areas, for each of these stages, where population-based nutrient intake is inappropriate compared to estimated nutrient need, along with viewing a food intake pattern that would accommodate appropriate nutrient intake for each of those life stages. SUBJECT 4: REMINDER - Counseling for Postpartum Depression Training Registration. Remember to register for the Counseling for Postpartum Depression training with Sally Riley and Jane McKinney. The training is open to anyone including local WIC agency staff, home visiting nurses and other healthcare providers. These live seminars will be held at 5 locations throughout Missouri; registration opens at 9:00 am and training is from

- July 28th - Kansas City at the Bruce Watkins Cultural Center
- August 2nd - Cape Girardeau at the Public Library
- August 3rd - Berkeley at the St. Louis County Department of Public Health
- August 4th - Columbia at the Columbia-Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services

SUBEJCT 5: Mandatory Revision 15 Nutrition Risk Factors Training - Save the Date. This training via conference call will provide attendees with an overview of the USDA Risk Factor changes that will be implemented October 1, 2017. A CPA/nutritionist from each agency is required to participate in at least one session. Other certifying staff is encouraged to attend. The purpose of this training is to cover the following topics:
- Risk Factor 135 Slowed/Faltering Growth Pattern (formerly known as Inadequate Growth)
- Risk Factor 352a Infectious Diseases: Acute
- Risk Factor 352b Infectious Diseases: Chronic
- Risk Factor 359 Recent Major Surgery, Physical Trauma, Burns
- Risk Factor 411 Inappropriate Nutrition Practices for Infants

JOB POSTING: WIC Nutritionist - Taney County Health Department. The Taney County Health Department will be accepting resumes for a full time non-exempt Nutritionist for the WIC Program. This position will be responsible for determining eligibility of WIC participants and providing nutrition and breastfeeding counseling to WIC participants. IBCLC would be preferred. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in dietetics, public health nutrition, human nutrition, nutritional sciences, nutrition and fitness, sports nutrition, restaurant and food management, foods, family and consumer sciences, human environmental sciences, or home economics - including or supplemented by at least one course in Diet Therapy I and II, and one course in Community Nutrition or Nutrition In Life Cycle/Life Cycle Nutrition.
