JOB POSTING: WIC Certifier/HPA - Columbia-Boone Dept. of Public Health and Human Services. The Columbia-Boone Dept. of Public Health and Human Services is currently accepting applications for a WIC Certifier/HPA. Some of the duties include:
- Perform intake and check demographic information, identifications, and proof of residence for members of households applying to WIC program.
- Assess eligibility of women, infants, and children for the WIC program by determining household income and obtaining heights, weights, and hemoglobin levels for active participants.
- Discuss risk and eligibility factors for WIC with applicants/participants.
- Explain the program, food packages, and use of WIC to participants.
- Print WIC checks for participant use.
- Perform clerical duties: answer phones, schedule appointments, scan paperwork into computer, and order medical supplies for the program.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum two (2) years general office experience, preferably in a health care or social service setting (an equivalent combination of education and experience necessary to perform essential job functions is acceptable). JOB POSTING: WIC Certifier - City of St. Joseph Health Department. The City of St. Joseph Health Department is currently accepting applications for a full-time WIC Certifier. The candidate will be responsible for prescreening potential clients for the program. Other duties include, but are not limited to, checking clients in for service, coordinating client services with WIC nutritionists, appointment scheduling, and issuing checks. The candidate will complete basic office duties, and must have basic computer skills and literacy in using Windows Explorer and Microsoft Office. The candidate will participate in various Health Department activities within the community and in continuing education activities appropriate to the position. Strong customer service skills are required. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalency, and the successful completion of the state required training in Jefferson City, MO within the time designated by the State Department.

Responsibilities include certifying participants for the WIC program, and providing nutrition education and breastfeeding counseling. Applicants must have graduated from an accredited four year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public health nutrition, dietetics, nutrition, home economics, or closely related field including courses in diet therapy and community nutrition.
