JOB POSTING: WIC Nutritionist - Pettis County Health Center
SUBJECT 1: Save The Date - Maximizing Nutrition during the WIC Lifecycle Training. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services’ Nutrition Training Institute (NTI) will present Maximizing Nutrition during the WIC Lifecycle trainingwith Jennifer Bean from the University of Missouri. WIC nurses, nutritionists, and registered dietitians are encouraged to attend. Trainings will be held at 3 locations throughout Missouri from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on:
- July 19th in Springfield at the Library Center
- July 20th in Berkeley at the St. Louis County Department of Public Health
- July 21st in Independence at the Northwestern District Health Office
Attendees will learn how changes in anatomy, physiology, and body composition affect nutrient needs during infancy, early childhood, and pregnancy. They will also recognize areas, for each of these stages, where population-based nutrient intake is inappropriate compared to estimated nutrient need, along with viewing of a food intake pattern that would accommodate appropriate nutrient intake for each of those life stages.

SUBJECT 2: CEU Corner.
An Update from FDA on the Revised Nutrition Facts Panel
Dr. Douglas Balentine will present information about the rationale for and the specific changes that will be appearing on the Nutrition Facts Panel as a result of federal nutrition label reform. He will also help the listener gain awareness of the objectives of the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act, the current nutrition label reform and to aid their clients in applying the labeling changes to more effectively meet individual dietary goals. This live Conagra Science Institute webinar will be held on March 16th at 1:00 pm.
JOB POSTING: WIC Certifier/HPA - Columbia-Boone Dept. of Public Health and Human Services. The Columbia-Boone Dept. of Public Health and Human Services is currently accepting applications for a WIC Certifier/HPA. Some of the duties include:
- Perform intake and check demographic information, identifications, and proof of residence for members of households applying to WIC program.
- Assess eligibility of women, infants, and children for the WIC program by determining household income and obtaining heights, weights, and hemoglobin levels for active participants.
- Discuss risk and eligibility factors for WIC with applicants/participants.
- Explain the program, food packages, and use of WIC to participants.
- Print WIC checks for participant use.
- Perform clerical duties: answer phones, schedule appointments, scan paperwork into computer, and order medical supplies for the program.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum two (2) years general office experience, preferably in a health care or social service setting (an equivalent combination of education and experience necessary to perform essential job functions is acceptable). JOB POSTING: WIC Nutritionist - Pettis County Health Center. The Pettis County Health Center has an opening for a full time WIC Nutritionist in Sedalia, MO. Responsibilities include certifying participants for the WIC program, and providing nutrition education and breastfeeding counseling. Applicants must have graduated from an accredited four year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public health nutrition, dietetics, nutrition, home economics, or closely related field including courses in diet therapy and community nutrition.
