JOB POSTING: WIC Nutritionist - Platte County Health Department

SUBJECT 1: MOWINS Release 2.29.Clarification regarding MOWINS Release 2.29, which is to be pushed out on September 1: Installation on the agency workstations can begin any time after 10:00 am on Friday, September 1st. MOWINS will NOT be available for use until then. The MOWINS team will be working to have MOWINS ready for clinic use as early as possible and will send an email to WIC Coordinators when the system is ready. Please contact Jamie Bish at Jamie.Bish@health.mo.gov with any questions.

SUBJECT 2: Package Change - Store Brand Non-Fat Dry Milk.  Store brands (e.g. Best Choice and Village Farms) of instant nonfat dry milk have changed their packaging from a box to a bag and removed the wording “MAKES 8 QUARTS” from the front of the package.  Please see the attachment for the old and new packages of Best Choice non-fat dry milk.

The description for non-fat dry milk will be changed in MOWINS on June 20, 2017:

SUBJECT 3: Nutrition Education Opportunity:  University of Minnesota National Maternal Nutrition Intensive Course.  This continuing education program focuses on the improvement of maternal and infant health through the delivery of risk-appropriate, high-quality nutrition services.  It is designed for dietitians, nutritionists, certified nurse midwives, registered nurses and nurse practitioners, physicians, and public health professionals who serve pre-conceptual, pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women.  The course is offered as either a face to face or online self-paced course.

  • The face to face course is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 16-18, 2017, with online registration located here.  The cost is $195 per person.
  • The online self-paced course registration is located here.  The cost is $25 per person.

WIC Positions

JOB POSTING: WIC Nutritionist - Platte County Health Department.  The Platte County Health Department is seeking a Nutritionist to provide individual assessment and counseling support for breastfeeding, pregnant, and postpartum women; infants; and children to age 5.  Duties also include individual and group education and will be responsible for daily clinic functions.  This position is full time (40 hours per week).  This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, including fifteen credit hours of food and nutrition.  WIC experience helpful and must be reliable and able to work in a team environment.  Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor is expected at all times.  Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license.  We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefit package.
