SUBJECT 1: New Contract Formula Labels. Mead Johnson has announced that that they are making graphic changes to the contract formula labels. The attached visual teaching aid is provided for local agencies to use in guiding participants to purchase the correct contract formula. These new label designs will be in WIC Authorized retail stores this summer/fall. The Missouri WIC Program does not allow local agencies to post or distribute the visual aid for formulas. Please only use this aid to provide a visual to the participant on what the label of the formula they need looks like. Allowing participants to take a picture of the formula label with their cell phone to have when they are at the retailer is also acceptable. When not being used to provide education, this visual aid should be kept out of sight. Refer to ER# 6.05050 Local WIC Provider Responsibility: Supportive Breastfeeding Environment for more information. If you have questions, please contact your assigned District Nutritionist or Takako Tagami at Takako.Tagami@health.mo.gov
SUBJECT 2: New WIC Redirect URL. The Missouri WIC Program website has a new redirect URL (wic.mo.gov) to make referring participants, retailers, and the general public to the website much easier. Do not use “www.” in front of the URL, or it will not work. Please feel free to add this to your tag lines, printed materials, posters, emails, etc.; for example, “Check us out at wic.mo.gov!” If you have any questions, please contact D’Anne Ward by email at Danne.Ward@health.mo.gov
SUBJECT 3: Annual WIC Authorized Retailer Training. The Retailer Unit will not be conducting statewide face-to-face Annual Missouri WIC Authorized Retailer Training this summer. In the past, Local Agency staff has been invited to attend these training sessions and since it is not being offered, the Retailer Unit felt it necessary to inform Local Agency staff of this change. Authorized WIC Retailers will receive annual training via a newsletter that will be mailed to them by the Retailer Unit. If you have questions, or if your Local Agency receives questions from WIC Authorized Retailers, please contact Gail Ponder at Gail.Ponder@health.mo.gov or by phone at 573-751-6204.
