SUBJECT 1: Breastfeeding Coordinator Training. This is a reminder that there is a Breastfeeding Coordinator Training scheduled for Thursday, April 6, 2017 in Jefferson City. This one-day session will cover the role of the Breastfeeding Coordinator, breastfeeding management, 3-Step Counseling, and guidelines for loaning breast pumps. This training will go beyond what is covered in the “Using Loving Support to Grow and Glow in WIC” training.
The training is mandatory for all new Breastfeeding Coordinators. Any other staff members who would like additional information on breastfeeding are welcome to attend. SUBJECT 2: CEU Corner.
To celebrate IBCLC Day on March 1, GOLD Learning is hosting a free webinar with Nancy Mohrbacher titled, “A Mother’s-Eye View of Breastfeeding Help”. Attitude and approach play a big role in how mothers respond to our efforts to help with breastfeeding. This presentation looks at recent research that provides insight into how breastfeeding help is perceived by families in our care. Click here to register. JOB POSTING: WIC Certifier - City of St. Joseph Health Department. The City of St. Joseph Health Department is currently accepting applications for a full-time WIC Certifier. The candidate will be responsible for prescreening potential clients for the program. Other duties include, but are but not limited to, checking clients in for service, coordinating client services with WIC nutritionists, appointment scheduling, and issuing checks. The candidate will complete basic office duties, and must have basic computer skills and literacy in using Windows Explorer and Microsoft Office. The candidate will participate in various Health Department activities within the community and in continuing education activities appropriate to the position. Strong customer service skills are required. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalency, and the successful completion of the state required training in Jefferson City, MO within the time designated by the State Department.

JOB POSTING: WIC Nutritionist - Pettis County Health Center. The Pettis County Health Center has an opening for a full time WIC Nutritionist in Sedalia, MO. Responsibilities include certifying participants for the WIC program, and providing nutrition education and breastfeeding counseling. Applicants must have graduated from an accredited four year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public health nutrition, dietetics, nutrition, home economics, or closely related field including courses in diet therapy and community nutrition.
